Karen Mitchell, Ed.D. has over 30-years of experience in tutoring, teaching, curriculum writing, educational administration, and learning & development. Dr. Mitchell’s key areas of strength include hands-on math and science teaching, individualizing instruction, and organizational development. She earned her Professional Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, Supplementary Authorization in Life Science, and Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development Certificate, and she holds a Doctorate Degree in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University, a Masters of Science Degree in Administration (with honors) from Pepperdine University, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Ecology (cum laude) from University of California Irvine, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences from University of California Irvine. Her dissertation focused on engagement and growth mindset as ways to reduce math anxiety. She is currently the president and owner of We Tutor-U, a private, individualized tutoring company that has been in business since 2002.

Amanda Mitchell, M.S., CGC brings a strong background in both science and education to WeTutor-U. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, with minors in Psychology and Leadership Studies, from Johns Hopkins University (2023), and her Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling from Stanford University (2025). Amanda has years of experience supporting students—through mentoring high schoolers in Baltimore, teaching STEM virtually, providing one-on-one tutoring, and serving as a teaching assistant during both her undergraduate and graduate studies. At WeTutor-U, she loves helping students build confidence, master challenging material, and discover joy in learning!
